Taylor and Katie are engaged!  Taylor has been planning this asking day for a while.  He pictured a beautiful, sunny blue sky day up at Snowbird. This is how it was suppose to go: they would be skiing and then take the lift to the highest point possible and there on top with views of mountains as far as you can see he would get down on one knee and ask Katie to marry him.  He picked February 23 for the day and as the week progressed, he watched the weather report go from bad to worse.  By the time Saturday was a day or two away, it was going to be a blizzard, a blustery snowstorm with 45 mile per hour winds, no visibility whatsoever. But he was determined to propose on that day.  We were all very worried about the ring getting caught up in a gust of wind and disappearing forever.  Taylor decided to tie thread around the ring and attached the thread to his wrist all while being able to close the box.  So when Saturday came, Katie’s dad, Scott, and sister, Amy, went up skiing with Katie.  Taylor told Katie he had to work so unbeknownst to Katie, Taylor drove up with Alex and Joe.  The rest of us were planning to meet them at Snowbird for lunch.  The storm grew so bad that none of us were able to drive up.  Taylor found himself waiting, really hiding in the trees for at least a half-hour before Katie came by.  He skied after her calling her name and then unclipped his bindings and took a knee.  She said YES! We all could not be happier.  They are a great couple.  They are each the youngest in their families, very driven, love sports and the great outdoors, believe and practice their faith, work hard to achieve their goals.  I think they’re going to be an amazing couple!

As a side note, the first time I saw Katie, which was when she was in 9th grade as she came for tryouts for the tennis team, I thought she would be perfect for Taylor.  I really did.  It’s such a dream come true for us to think we get to have Katie as a daughter-in-law!  We feel truly blessed!
