Quote of the Day:  Tough times never last, but tough people do.  Dr. Robert Schuller

From Waking the Warrior Goddess:  Avoid refined sugar.  Use a natural sweetner such as Stevia instead.

Last night I got this great card delivered to my door from Skyline Seminary Council.  The seminary does a fun tradition on Fridays where they invite speakers to come during lunch and the students fill the auditorium, eat their sack lunches and probably hope for some knowledge or insight to come their way.  I got to be the speaker in November and I loved talking to the students.  I spoke about goals and having direction in your life.  Hum, I wonder how different my talk would have been today?  Hopefully not too much but perhaps more insightful.  But I was so touched by the kind messages and three of the seminary council are also on the Community of Caring board- no surprise of the caliber of people of these three.  Here’s a shout out to some of my favorites:  Mariah, Sam and Chandler.  Also, I was touched by the remarks of others that I didn’t actually have as students but had some connection.  Their kind words really touched me.  But one student, that I had last year, and adored is named Ben Featherstone.  Ben is amazing.  He is untouched by the world in such a great way.  He has the best attitude, always attentive, watching closely with a desire to add to the conversation.  Ben was born deaf but that has never been a silencing factor for him.  One of my favorite memories w/ Ben is when we went to the Road Home Shelter to do an activity w/ the children at the playroom.   Another student in the car, Grace Jackson, student-body president at Skyline, signed for Ben while we talked.  I asked Grace if she had formal training is sign language in which she replied that she did not but that she had been w/ Ben throughout elementary school and had watched the interpreter and learned from their signing. Now, yes Grace is amazing.   So we rode along, Ben being an integral part of the conversation.

Here is what Ben wrote to me:   “I am very sorry that you have gotten cancer.  I will be praying for you.  I will have faith for you.  I am very happy you were my C of C teacher last year.  You are so kind and sweet!  You are so thoughtful of others.    Remember,  in D & C 121:7  Your trials are but a small moment.  Just endure it well.  Sister Daily, I testify to you that miracles do happen.  You are the living proof of htat.  We are so blessed to have you.  I do so hope that you will feel better.  I testify that God does know and love you so very much.  I testify that Jesus has gone through what you are going through right now.  He knows you.  He loves you.  We all love you.  I so do humbly tesity in the name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Joanie – I have a couple of ideas on how to prepare Maggie for the changes in your appearance. I learned a lot about how to do this in my child Life classes. I will try to call you tomorrow. love, Erin

After reading Ben’s personal testimony to you, I had to reach for a tissue. I can only imagine that it had an even stronger, more profound effect on you. You have been blessed by your association with these students. –L
