St. Paddy’s Day-  Mike’s Favorite Holiday

Quote of the Day:  When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.

Today Joe and I got up and walked 4.5 miles.  It’s a bit hard to find a place to exercise w/out the noise and hustle bustle of cars on the streets outside our hotel room.  Tomorrow, we plan to hike in a slot canyon which will give us the solitude we’re seeking.  The flowers here are amazing.  I can’t believe how huge the geraniums are.  I wish I knew what they feed them but mainly it’s got to be this big sun that makes them thrive.  Like the flowers, I love to get that Vitamin D coursing through my body.

One of the issues I need to address in my life, is this issue of forgiveness.  When you are faced w/ an illness that could possibly take your life, you really start to examine your life.  And here’s why you never turn to drugs, alcohol or excessive behavior to self- medicate.  The problems will still exist (even though one tries to self-medicate) and will be there when you finally deal w/ them if you ever are able to, after an addiction.  So people do us wrong all the time, and we do them wrong (sometimes without even knowing  or understanding how we’ve hurt them) but it’s our responsibility to forget (meaning- we are not thinking about it anymore or letting it hamper our lives) and forgive.  There comes a point where you can’t blame someone else for their wrong doing whether they ever feel bad about it or make restitution.  They may have worked on being forgiven and so you must work on forgiving and getting over it.  We all have people in our lives who we are angry at.   We need to figure out why we’re angry, work to either eliminate them or their disruptive behavior from our lives and lose the baggage that is holding us back from living to its fullest.
