Quote of the Day:  “The so-called “secrets of success” will not work unless you do.”   -Author Unknown

Exercise Log:  Jen, Sue O. and I left from Jeni’s house.  We did hills and went 3.49 miles.  It’s pretty amazing to me that our bodies do adapt to what we ask of them.  I remember that with running.  If you increase your milage or add speed work pretty soon what seemed hard, becomes easier and your body adjusts.  Really, the adjustment comes pretty easily if you don’t increase more than about 10%.

Joe, Alex and I are heading to Portland today and then Astoria tomorrow.  We are driving since we didn’t know where I would be infection-wise with surgery and the surgeon didn’t want us to go in an airplane.  I do have a new project to work on though.  I am looking forward to seeing the Starley Family!

Got into Portland around 12:30 A.M. and then woke up to overcast sky and cool weather.  It is green and beautiful here but I sure love the big blue sky we have in Utah.  I guess you really like what you have and are used to.  I love the sun but also love the way the flowers thrive in an atmosphere of moisture.  We are staying at the Elliot, which is an old hotel here in Astoria.  It is on the historical registry and suppose to be a place you shouldn’t miss staying at in your lifetime.  It is very quaint and decorated with taste.  There is a problem though, Joe got locked out of the room this morning and came back, slipped in his Sportsmall card and  what do you know, the door opened.  Didn’t make me feel very good about our security.

It was so great to see the Starleys.  Lynne is 2 years older than me and moved to Klamath Falls with Thom and their 3 kids in August of 1990, she was pregnant with Tess.  She was my tennis partner and we had a lot of fun together.  It was hard to see her go but her family has loved it here.  Their oldest son, Matt, is getting married on Saturday to Kelsey in Astoria.  We are so happy to be part of the wedding.

So, here’s my pondering question of the day.  When you have a diagnosis like cancer, do you live every moment to the fullest knowing your time may be limited or do you search for whatever information and “cures”  are out there to lengthen your life?
